A cultural initiative to trigger awareness, acknowledgement of simple, everyday matters, and deeper, meaningful thoughts.

The context

After a six years of professional growth in Singapore, I went back to my home country. Singapore is a country that prides itself on cleanliness and convenience, sometimes at the expense of authenticity and inspiration.

After landing, I realised that the streets were packed with stimuli: from graffiti to wood work, through many other creative expressions, these all are triggers to get the mind thinking.

The project

I decided to turn my overthinking capabilities into a creative expression. I gathered thoughts on everyday life, wrote them down on A4 paper sheets, and pasted them on the street. At the same time, I’d photograph the posters and share them on Instagram. For the first year, I would include no caption, so that everyone could get to their own conclusions. Later, I started including captions with my own thoughts on each matter.

The whole point was to start an urban thought -rather than urban art- movement on simple yet noteworthy life situations or facts, because everything, as little as it might be, is always worth acknowledging. With this project, I hoped, I would stir some meaningful and beautiful self-reflection.

All of the thoughts are written in Catalan, my native language, and they range from deep statements like Taking care of yourself as you’d care for a loved one to seemingly simpler ones like Downloading Tinder again.

This project has gone beyond just posters on the streets as I turned some of the thoughts into t-shirts or tote backs, upon request from Instagram followers. Likewise, I have digitalised my handwriting and turned it into a font.
